Hello my little Internet Family,
In one hand I normally have a cup of tea or my dog in it, and in the other it’s normally my phone for checking what’s happening in the beauty industry on that particular day.
2017 saw Fenty Beauty, heavy contouring (not my fave), matte lipsticks, the UK government banning micro beads (big whoop for the environment), Glossier’s first fragrance, Asos’s own makeup line (hell yes) and Misguided doing one two many retouches. It was also the year where celebrities outed sexual predators and demonstrated their loyalty to victims through makeup and clothing. And last but definitely not least a few more brands went cruelty free. ❤️ And let’s not forget that Fenty Beauty introduced their amazing highlighting sticks. Yes yes yes.
I want to discuss the beauty launches, products, and events I’m excited for this (relatively) new year. Everything is cruelty free to the best of knowledge.
*Also I realise that all of these products are mid to high end, I’m sorry it’s a lot harder to find out about new high street launches but I will keep an eye out and make sure your updated. (All images are not owned by me as most things aren’t yet available here).
Hourglass Flash Highlighting Stick – Oh my gosh! If I had lots of money and could only use one brand, Hourglass would be it. Their stick foundation, and ambient light palettes, are game changing and I have a feeling this highlighter will be no different when it launches in a couple of months in Aus. A huge amount of their products are vegan, and the highlighter have four colours, ranging from a light champagne colour to a chocolatey hue. The thought of this makes me want to dunk my muesli bar, ( I know- weird) even more enthusiastically into my cup of tea.
Urban Decay All Nighter Waterproof Full Coverage Concealer – First up this company is cruelty free and Vegan, but and a big but, they are owned by Loreal which isn’t so great and I’m not sure how to feel about it. I’ve had a sample of their all nighter foundation, and it’s does last a long time and for me that’s a rare thing with oily skin in summer. A lot of people are excited about it, and I might well try it but am less excited since I found out who it’s parent company is.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder Bronzers – These lovely products are cruelty free, and most are vegan aside from a few things which contain bees wax, or honey. I actually haven’t tried her iconic eyebrow products, but I will try these bronzers as I really struggle to find a bronzer that I actually want to apply as a lot of them are too shimmery for me. 6 shades are coming out and apparently their will be colour to suit all skin tones, which is both super important and somewhat rare.
Fenty Beauty Brow Products – Have you seen Riri’s brows lately ? They are slaying. I love her stick highlighters, and am excited to see what her brow products are like, and what type of formulations she will bring out. Her new Mattemoiselle lipsticks look gorgeous too, and I will be picking one or two up on pay day or in the near future. Rhianna’s brand is against animal testing and she’s passionate about that (and that girl can sing).
Too Faced White Peach Palette – I love the peach highlighting palettes, and their eyeshadow palettes are always highly pigmented and cleverly designed. I think this matte palette will provide a lot of shades perfect for everyday, and as its making its way around PR boxes so I think it will be out soon. I’m also excited for their unicorn collection, because well unicorns.
Eve Lom Radiance Oil – These lovely skin care products are against animal, and aren’t sold in China. This is meant to fix a whole range of skin concerns relating to ageing, and it’s packaging as with all their products is minimal and gorgeous, I will be buying this for my mumma after some saving up.
This Works Evening Detox Water – I love this brand’s pillow spray and shower gel as someone who isn’t always the best sleeper, these products are a blessing. It’s meant to remove makeup, pollution and dirt, and I like the idea of a cleansing water as part of a two step cleansing ritual. I will be sticking to my faithful Aesop for now though.
All items will be available from Mecca, Sephora, Myer, or David Jones here in Australia.
