I love my dog far too much ; it’s one of the first things you will realise about me throughout my writing and also in real life. I spoil her whenever I get the chance; these dog biscuits are crunchy , peanut buttery and will induce swoons from your four legged beauty. I much prefer giving Lola homemade treats over store bought ones where I don’t know half of the ingredients listed. These last my little one about 2 weeks when stored in a biscuit tin in my cupboard ( if she hasn’t found the stash that is).
This recipe has coconut oil , and oats for energy , eggs for a shiny coat and peanut butter for a hit of protein. It’s also super easy.
1 cup wholemeal flour
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1 large mashed banana or 2 lady finger bananas
2 tablespoons natural peanut butter
1 tablespoon oats
Preheat oven to 160
Mix together all dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl before adding in the peanut butter , coconut oil , eggs and mashed banana. Mix until a dry paste forms ; leave in fridge for an hour to harden and set.
Take out mixture from the bowl and roll with rolling pin until flat ; dust with more wholemeal flour to prevent it sticking to surfaces. Once flat ; cut into your choice of shapes using a knife or cookie cutters, I have made mine into small bite sized squares for use in rewarding good behaviour.
Cook in the oven for 20-30 minutes on a buttered and lined oven tray. Now watch your pooch dance in delight!
*Edit : For some reason in my photos the flour looks very white but in person it’s more of a light brown colour.
